Hi there,
I am a long time NeXT user but I just found this forum. I was wondering where the the REAL NeXT lovers where hanging and now I know! :)
Anyway I am looking for a SCSI HD (1-2 gig) and a SCSI external cable (With the small plug, like in the back of a NeXTStation, at both ends). I have bought too many non-NeXT compatible HD so I figure it would be a better bet here.
If anybody can help let me know.

Welcome! You indeed found
the NeXT hang out!
As for the SCSI items you're looking for, posting a location would be great, as you might be near another NeXTie.
Welcome to the forums. Glad to see another NeXT user. :D
Disktab entries are your friend when it comes to getting "newer" hard disk working with NeXT. Check out the link below, and the many threads on the forum devoted to getting different type of disks working. What kind of drives have you tried, as someone in here has probably tried it as well.

Hi, most of the time, I had problem with a drive when used as the startup disk. i.e. the drive would work as a secondary external drive but not as a startup drive. They were usually Compaq or Apple rebrand HD or IBM drive. So I am looking for a plain seagate drive NOT costum made for Compaq or Apple in the range of 1 to 4 gig.
The more I read stuff here the more I am glad to have kept my NeXT equipment. I still use it, mainly for programing. I have a NeXTStation Turbo with 128meg ram and a NeXTStation 25mhz running headless.
I live in Quebec Canada and I doubt any active NeXT user live nearby.

I have had that issue before, and usually it has been a lack of the proper boot information on the drive. Doing a "disk -b /dev/rsd1a" (or whatever the drive number is) usually fixes this, at least for me. I do not know if this is destructive like doing a "disk -i" is, because the drives are usually wiped when I am doing this so I do not care. Below is another thread on the forum dealing with copying/cloning your NeXT drive that may be of help.
