Were they specialized disks, or is the Cube's (Canon?) drive compatible with what's being sold today?

They were standard MO disks, the same used in the vanilla canon drive.  Check out the thread below for more info on the disks.

I was not able to find the external drive mentioned, as the guys I knew had junked the canofile stuff a few years ago.   :(
