I just acquired another HP 712 -- this one the 100MHz version (finally).  So this is the one that will be running NS 3.3...  Anyway, installed and up and running without any problems at all.  I must say it's pretty fast and the color output on it is quite stunning!

Only issue and it's really more of a curiosity -- This puppy has the stock Seagate Hawk 2.1 GB drive in it.  Yet with only NS 3.3 User fresh installed on it free disk space only shows 717MB free.  This seems wrong.  What am I forgetting about here?  Will someone smarter please refresh my memory?

Thanks much!

When you installed NS, it probably created two 1G partitions on the drive, as opposed to one 2g partition.  Fire up a terminal and do a df (assuming NS had df) to see what it says for size of your partitions.

Sure sounds like the "if drive more than 2.0 GB, partition
drive into equal parts" autopartition default mode of
NS 3.3 install to me. Some time back I wrote about my
work-around for the autopartition default mode. It involved
manualy entering Unix commands. Perhaps there is a simpler
way that someone else has worked out.

on install do an 'advanced installation' and create the 2044MB partition then install to it....
