I am also trying to revive a drive. So the question is:
Should the MO drive start spinning as soon as power is applied, or does it only spin when media is inserted?

Some of my drives give a little spin when they're first started, some don't.
The only *working* MO I have does not spin up during boot (of 4.2 anyway).
