I have bought a lot of 10 Seagate SCSI ST15150N 50 pin 4.2GB on Ebay

I would build a homemade rack with an empty PC case with an independant powersupply and chain the drives.  Power supply for the 10 drives would be provided by my rack but the data cable would be plugged into my NeXTstation and/or my SCSI PC card into another PC.

I'm affraid that the data connection of my rack could give too much power to my NeXTstation and destroy something into it.  I'm not an electrical specialist.

What do you think about this idea? :idea:

I think the max you will be able to use on the next is 6, as that is the limit of devices that can be attached to a single channel SCSI controller.  So do you have a scsi cable with enough connectors for all those drives, or does the case you are installing in have a SCSI backplane or something?  Those 7200rpm drives get pretty hot, so make sure you have adequate ventilation in the case.  Depending on where the drives were used, some can have strange sector sizes that have to be dealt with before NS can use the full capacity of the drives.  Check out the post from idylukewild on page 3 of the thread below for how he dealt with this.

@nextchef:

Thanks for your ideas and questioning.  Heat, energy-consuming, SCSI channel limitation, quantity of work and money required decrease my interest for that idea.

I will keep 4-5 drives for my own needs and i will sell later the remaining (5-6 drives) on Ebay.  Thanks. 8)
