Is it possible to fix the old black/white ones?  I shipped my cube up to New York, and much to my dismay the thing doesn't work.  They keyboard passthru still works, so I'm able to turn my cube on, and boot but it sucks not being able to see it.......

Or failing that, is there a 'good' place to get monitors from?

Up to a point, yes, but it is difficult these days to find people competent to do it or to get the necessary information or parts.  I tried to get service docs on the Hitachi monitors without luck and that included going to Hitachi and the SGI and Sun groups.  As for finding someone to do the work, you'll need to find a *good* computer store.  They'll have outsourced their repair work and with a bit of luck, they're competent and not just board swappers.  The old mono monitors will be a bit of a challenge.  Simpler yet more obscure.

a funny thing happened today...

I wanted to verify if it was command ~ or control ~ to get to the boot rom... I expected to do this blind, and when I fired up the cube... It works!

Cold joints I suppose.........
