A couple of NeXT sightings, one for fun and one for real.

I was trying to find info about the Quix Daydream Rombox when I stumbled across a website that mentioned that Madonna AKA Madge as we prefer to call her in England, used some NeXT computers in one of her videos.
I've never seen it so I can neither confirm or deny it, but if true it's quite cool that Madge seems to have pretty good taste in somethings.

Hey brams,
Thanks for finding the link, I haven't seen that one. I've read that Black Hardware also makes an appearance in a Paula Abdul video and the 1990 motion picture "Flatliners".

Paula Abdul video & TDK commercial, I wonder which ones and from what years?, I'd like to find that one out if I can, does anybody know?.
Does anybody know if NeXT's where ever used by any bands, musicians or studios? for video or music production work?, did any musicians use NeXT's on stage for any live sets?.
Am I correct in thinking there as a way to interface NeXT hardware to midi via DSP or NeXTbus?
Cheers

I haven't verified it, but I think the Paula Abdul video is this one (the 1989 remake):

Thanks for the link, gonna see if I can snag that video from somewhere.
At the risk of thread jacking a little I thought I mention this, in case anybody wants to buy the book listed on that page.
I see the link you gave also had mention on the The NeXT Big Thing by Randall E. Stross. I have this book and have got to say what a pile of crap it is, I think it's the worst book I've probably read on the subject of IT companies. The way Stross goes on about NeXT & Jobs and Co is embarrassing, it's like Jobs kicked his dog, stole his car, ran off with his wife, stole his bank book and spent his life savings on crack. He really does hate the man and NeXT that much.
Stross seems to think that Jobs has absolutely no talent, is a manager of the poorest kind and got where he is on the backs of others and by pure luck.
The book was printed before NeXT took over Apple, before OS X, before the iMac & iPod and before Pixar & Toy Story.
How gutted he must be to have been proven wrong by such a huge degree.
It's a good book to laugh at, but if you're looking for a decent book on NeXT look elsewhere (The Journey is the Reward)
I haven't read the book, probably because I've heard so many negative things about it.
I watched Flatliners last night and Black Hardware can be seen twice sitting on a desktop in one of the character's apartment.
A NeXTcube can be seen briefly in the Paula Abdul video (1989 remake).
If I remember correctly, there is a NeXT in the movie 'antitrust'... which, btw, is a terrible movie imo ;)

Thanks for the link, I'll have a look. :)
Way Cool!
There are a bunch of B/W slabs using 3.3J in Madona's "rain" video.
I also remember Nextstep on either white yellow hardware in the movie "less than zero". (with bill paxton?) it was in the library or something like that.
I think I also saw ns running on a sparc in some movie.
:-) Cool!
Holy SchNike! Good job. :)
Great pics! More please.
NeXT was made for the movies. No wonder due to the influence of the "other" Steve-company of that time... :)
Another NeXT sighting, this time from altitude. You'll need to install

Nice!!!, that's the HQ, what about the factory in Fremont, do you know the address for that?
Does anybody have any idea of the history of both buildings before and after NeXT occupied and then left them?, I think Fremont was purpose built, from what I remember of various books I read about Steve, NeXT & Apple, I think the HQ may have been as well.
I think the manufacturing plant probably went when NeXT stopped HW production in 93, but what about the HQ, did NeXT leave right after Apple bought them or did they hang on there for a bit.
Who in terms of compaines occupies them now, anybody we might know?
Here is a strange NeXT sighting I made while searching the web:
It is from
http://homepage3.nifty.com/seed_kun/I don't know exactly what's going on, but she may be working on her Cube.

The copy of the video I have is pretty low quality but it briefly shows the camera panning past a cube. I'll get a screenshot of it if I can locate a better quality video.
I think that picture is one of the "OS-Tan"s, a series of platform mascots that were(and still are) a big fad among amaetur Japanese cartoonists. Didn't know they had one for NeXT, though- nice discovery!
