Title: CD burner and CDDesigner.app on NeXT
Post by: David_Fischbach on November 20, 2007, 05:48:20 PM
Hello,

I have a NeXT computer and I try to write data on a CD with a CD burner.
I try to use the software " CDDesigner.app ". The help of the software say that I can use different CD burners like Sony CDU926S or Yamaha CDR 102. I have bought these CD burners.

But I fail to write data on CD.

Is there somebody who have already write data on CD with a CD burner on a NeXT computer ? which software and hardware do you use ?

Regards.

Hey David,
Long time, no chat.     What version of CDDesigner.app are you using?  I know that 1.4.2 is the free version, but the last time I tried to use it on my one NeXT system, I had problems w/ a Yamaha CDR 102..  I was able to use 1.3.8, which I had a license for.  I eventually just started using mkisofs of make images of the files needed over nfs to one of my bigger/faster systems.  Then I just used cdrw or cdrecord to burn the images.  Since I still have that old burner, I'll hook it up over this weekend & give it a shot.  I'll let you know how it works.  I can hook it up to my m68k system, Sparc & my gecko.  Noticed this was your first post, welcome to the forums.  I just broke out my systems a while back & have been compiling like crazy every since.   :)   It's been fun.  I never realized how much I missed using my old boxes till I installed OPENSTEP under Parallels on one of my MacOSX boxes.  Take care.

Hy ,

I use the free version of CDDesigner.app, then ver 1.4.2.

A friend say to me to try to change the BIOS of the CDR 102.

I switched from Yamaha to Plextor, they are much better. Acutally I have 40/12 SCSI. Driver to select was the Yamaha I think. If you need assistance, feel free to drop me mail.
