I saw hat one too.
To me it seems fishy.

I've been thinking the same thing since I saw it a few days ago.

I do not know, if there are two version of 4.0?
He is selling OpenStep 4.0 and I wonder, if this is Nextstep 4 beta as seen on below picture?

That would be too good to be true, but the auction was withdrawn early so who knows what it really was.
...for sale ... he is selling ... sold
bought it for only 5 euro, shipment by armail included
You better tell us what it really is when it arrives.
so, can you tell as what is on the CD? did you try to install it?
I got NS 4.0 Beta, tried to install it on VPC7 with NS 4.2 boot floppies it started but the installer couldnt find the right hard drive for it even it is the one I have NS 4.2 on ... anyway I mounted it in NS 4.2, but couldnt find anything interesting, it looked preaty the same as NS 4.2 CD ...

It probably will run in Qemu....
Of course it'll need some patches though.
well, shame on me  we have the best sources about NS/OS made by RacerX on his website ... even the above picture was taken from his page ...
I can confirm now that the OPENSTEP 4.0 BETA is the one that looks like the NS 3.3 or 4.2 ... :?
For most of us, what we know about NEXTSTEP 4.0 Beta comes from a single screenshot that NeXT provided. This shot (below) is quite intriguing if for no other reason that the fact that... well, we never got the features shown in that shot. NeXT reversed itself on the GUI directions it was taking and when they finally released OPENSTEP 4.0 the look and feel was almost identical to that of the previous NEXTSTEP 3.3 release.http://www.shawcomputing.net/resources/next/software/ns40_screenshots/index.html
My mission: track down that release!!!
I had a beta of NEXTSTEP that had that blue menu and gradient thing going on. Could OPENSTEP do that as well? I could be mixing the two up.
I got it running on one of those Canon 486 machines that ran NEXTSTEP.. what were those called again? The Canon Object Station? I've got to dig that out of storage...
Graeme.
well thats nice to hear! hope you will find it! :D
