I was just curious what people use today as their main computing machines. I use a late model p4 XP dell (boring but hey). I noticed mac users here as well.
I wasn't sure what to vote at first, as I use Linux on a Mac mini :roll:

Well, considering that NeXT started out with Apple employees (and it's founder), and later would return to Apple... it seems pretty logical that NeXT fanatics would also be Mac users.
The direct lineage of the NeXT OS didn't stop at OPENSTEP (version 4.x), it continued on with Rhapsody (version 5.x) which in turn evolved into Mac OS X. And many of us have used most of the versions of that lineage (including the versions released by Apple).

i still use a power mac G5 quad (10.4.10) as main personal computer (PPC)
i only have one intel mac (mac mini) just for testing (10.5.2)
I´m still using my G5 (non-Intel) as main workstation although I do have an Intel, too. Nevertheless my Maxdata Win PC ist still the major office machine, the Mac is for all of the rest of crativity ;-)

I knew that too but I figured there might also be alot of people who went on to Suns or SGI platforms since they were as much a direct competitor with NeXTs. I think one of my byte mags did a comparo of unix boxes back in the day. Only way to find out was a poll. :)
I still mostly use my NeXT as my main machine. Was using an IBM Thinkpad, but I gave that to my sister just recently.
I "voted" for Linux because I've got Linux on a couple of ThinkPads that I use for internet access. But I still do most of my work on my NeXT Cube, so it's probably more like 50/50, but there's no such option on the poll.

With the limiting of my computer selection between break-downs, cash and room... I'm actaully on a salvaged G3 B&W that's been refitted within reason (HD, memory, new firewire ext HD). It has 10.4.x on it and runs well. Although looking forward to the upcoming purchase of a new MacBook Pro in the coming month or so. Then the G3 goes remote and headless...
As for PC's, stopped using them years ago and I miss my NeXT Slab... once I have room it'll get setup and maybe I'll even fix my laser printer.
My main machine, (and the machine that you'd have to pry from my cold, dead hands) is a MacBook Pro. A friend of my wife once said she wouldn't recognise me if I didn't have it on my lap. :shock:
I used to use a NeXTStation a lot in a previous job, the machine I got recently is to allow to wallow in some nostalgia, and to use Framemaker again.
