Hello,
I have an old 486-100 running OpenStep 4.2 and I have a couple of files that I'd like to copy to floppy. When I go to copy the files I get an error message the file name is to long to copy and it fails. File name is "info.tif" Does not exceed the 8.3 file naming standard. How does one go about copying files to a floppy?
I dragged the file to the floppy. What am I missing here? Oh the floppy was a 1.44 disk formatted DOS from my XP machine.

FAT16/32 via XP most certainly will be different than the FAT12/16 on Openstep.
Well I had the same issue on my Mono Slab tonight as with the 486-100 machine where I formatted the floppy on the Slab as DOS and it did not copy the file either to floppy. I formatted it as Apple and the file copied fine. There's a bug somewhere or something that's not obvious on what's going on.
try tar'ing the file and see what happens. I had that issue before and I dunno what I did to fix it. heh
