[scsi Block in error = 0 (no valid label)
target 0 not ready: retry 1
through
target 0 not ready: retry 19
sd0 (0,0) sense key: 0x2 additional sense code: 0x4]
this repeats on a loop
this is all taking place in NeXT Mach Operating System 'window'
the cd-rom is a Lacie
the hard drive is a segate
software does not boot, diskette used along with cd-rom on NeXT Station Color.
This is taking place with NeXTStep 3.3
at the NeXT prompt bfd
Sounds like a bad floppy or floppy drive. Is the floppy drive making an "up and down" sort of seeking noise as it does each retry?

Try setting the CD ROM to SCSI ID 4 and the Seagate HD to 0. How fast is the SCSI CD ROM and is it a narrow HD?
There are seven pins in a row of two, I have the terminator set on the first pin top and bottom after the white...I will set cd-rom to 4 how do I set segate to 0? doesn't start at one and go to seven?... not sure how fast cd-rom is, will try to find out, lets first work with the settings.
It depends on the drive model, if you google the model number (usually ST<long number> for seagate drives) you'll find at least one of the hits will be a page which has the jumper setting information in it.
NextStep 3.3 software install successfull. What is the best way for me to go online with NeXTStep 3.3 telnet ftp Omni Web, I am able to burn disks and could transfer from MacBook Pro, can I get software online?
well, I use ftp, telnet, ssh, http, other network protocols all the time on mine. There are several software archives listed on the forums. I go to them via my NeXT and download what I need/want through ftp or http. It's a lot easier than downloading from another computer and burning to a cd or what not.
