Well, I installed the dhcp package and followed the instructions. It successfully got an IP and updated the resolv.conf, but I cannot ping anything and hostnames don't resolve. I obviously missed something.

Here are a few more details.
1. I can ping, but only for the first minute or so after booting.
2. I installed the VMXNet-1.3 version of drivers.
3. Installed OpenStep4.2 on VMWare server 1.0.5, if that makes a difference.
