Title: N3000 NeXT Optical Drive - Help
Post by: yoghithebear on April 11, 2008, 05:11:56 PM
I need to test one N3000 NeXT Optical Drive .... how is possible ?

Does anyone know how is its pin out ?

I have a Cube ( mono ) without its BW monitor,  one ADB keybord and soundbox.

Is it a strange idea connect db19 monitor out from cube to db19 soundbox in, so is it possible to use the keyboard and then sturt up the Cube.

The problem is Video signal .... I have a Sony CPD-L181 LCD monitor and an Acer 99sl crt monitor.
CAn someone help me or have some ideas ?
Thanks in advance.

I haven't done this nor do I know of anyone who has.  But the schematics for the Cube indicate it has separate horizontal and vertical sync signals (video, hsync, vsync on pins 8, 9 and 10, see schematics for details, each signal has a separate ground pin).  I don't know if the pin assignments are the same on the output-side of the soundbox.  But you could start by building a db19-to-hd15 converter.  Keep wires short so that signal reflections aren't *too* bad and connect each signal/ground pair between the matching pair on the other connector.  Send video only to the green input for now.  Getting a good greyscale display we'll deal with later.

Disclaimer:  if you break your cube, it's not my fault.
