I've put a PA-RISC machine up on eBay here (
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120246282523).
I set the reserve price at $50, but if it doesn't get that high I'll probably let it go anyway.
Does this system come with the floppy drive?
The pics seem to show it has one, but the description does not specify it as being included.
Thanks

Now what would you do w/ an HP Gecko running NEXTSTEP 3.3? Seriously, that does look like a nice box. It looks alot like mine for some strange reason, only nicer. Back when I picked up my Gecko, I paid a whopping $15 for three of them. 2 66Mhz ones & the 100 Mhz one I'm using now. One of the 66 Mhz ones worked also, but they were pretty beat up. I scrapped them for parts. Makes me want another one almost. :D It'd look nice under my Sun monitor sitting right next to the Thinkpad 765L that I put in place over the weekend.

Now as long as you keep patching and compiling stuff for NS3.3, I can think of a lot of things.
I actually have a 712/80, but this one looks a lot nicer. Mine also is missing the floppy, and has no matching external CDrom like this auction does. So my thinking is I take this one, swap in my existing 4G hard drive from my 712/80, and sell mine or keep it for parts.
Or ... anyone have a matching CDROM like this one they would be willing to part with? :D

LOL. They are nice systems. Mine don't have a floppy either. I had a matching cdrom at one time till I loaned it out to to a friend. He decided he needed more than me I guess. He moved w/ out telling me. Oh well, I have plenty of Sun external drives. I still can't believe someone payed over $200 for that NeXT CD-Rom drive on Ebay. I was interested in it, but not that much! If you decide not to get the system, I might pick it up. I play nice on ebay. Besides the fact, I really don't need it considering I now have 4 x86 systems running OPENSTEP, my Turbo Color Slab, Sparc 5, and my current Gecko. With all of them plus my other Sun boxes and Macs running, my computer room can get a little warm. rofl.
Yes, it actually does have a floppy drive. I haven't tested it, but there's no reason why it shouldn't work. The CD drive came from WeirdStuff (
http://www.weirdstuff.com/).
Speaking of WeirdStuff, I think they still have a few more HP CD drives left, and they also have a NeXT optical drive sitting somewhere last I checked.

WeirdStuff ... the magical mecca of all things vintage/obsolete. How much were they asking for them when you were there? One of these days I will have to make another "vacation" trip to CA and stop by. Just better make it a driving trip, and rent a U-haul. :D
Did you end the auction early? nextchef you get the HP?
I didn't end it early. I gave whoever bid on it a second chance offer, since I said I'd still let it go if it didn't make the reserve price.
Odd though- I thought there'd be a lot more interest. I should have just put it up for sale here instead of going the eBay route.

I can't believe I missed the end of the auction. I wasn't for sure if nextchef was going to bid on it or not. I would've give you more than $25 for it. That's a nice Gecko. If the bidder don't take the second chance. Let me know. :D Unless it's nextchef. I told him I'd give him first chance at it. I don't "need" the system, but it definately looks nicer than my system and I'd use it! I love my Gecko.
