Today I installed NeXTstep 3.3 on my SparcStation 5 (70 MHz, 16 MB RAM, 512 MB harddisk). The box came in factory default state, refusing to boot into Solaris but anyway I wanted to install NeXTstep solely.
While messing around with several CD ROM drives (all connected externally) for installation I found out that not all Apple drives I own are doing their job. After setting them to SCSI ID 6 (as recommended for CD ROM boot on those machines) the box just recognized two drives:
the Apple SC CD (namely a Sony CDU-8001) and a Apple 150e (Matsushita).
Just in case anybody faces the same configuration this post is for information purposes ;-)
