I'm not having much luck reading or creating new floppy images in VirtualBox.

I haven't tried using a real (USB) floppy yet with the passthrough option..

I'm wondering if anyone has some insight?  I'd like to build a new install disk, optimized for the Boot CD concept.  2.88MB disk images didn't work last time I tried (limitation of x86?)

I might solve my own problem here soon..

I haven't used the floppies beyond installing nextstep, and loading the ethernet driver...

It doesn't strike me as to supporting the 2.88 floppies though.. It basically is Qemu, you can check the sources to see if it even supports it.

I'd almost ask why, as swapping 'virtual' floppies isn't that big of an issue..

must have been a fluke - everything is working now.

I think I must have confused the VM without ejecting the "image" from the VM after ejecting the "floppy" from Openstep.

Anyway:

I'm fulfilling my plan to build a disk image which contains the core "modern" drivers from Patch 4, including VESA, etc.

This is basically a combination of the "install" diskette and the driver diskette.  I'm basically rewiring the Instance0.table and Default.table, and dumping the legacy stuff in favor of the modern drivers.

I thought I had the image down to just over 2MB, which should still work with El Torito without issue.

Intel can't read 2.88M disks, which makes sense, as few shipping machines even had onemostly MCA IBMs, IIRC, which weren't supported hardware.

Time for Stupid NFS Tricks!
