Strange...

This is the first NeXT CD ROM I've ever seen that close. It looks exactly like Apple's 150e drive, just painted black.

I have 2 or 3 of those that will be listed on eBay soon.  One is in the original box.

They are in fact the same as the apple ones. (if i remember correctly)

They are very similar to the Apple drives..I even took an Apple drive in the external case once and painted it black.  The NeXT have a caddy-loading Sony CDU-1XX..I forget the exact model number.  I have one of these.
