Hi!

I succesfully installed NeXTSTEP 3.3 in VMware Fusion, but I'm having difficulties getting files in it. When I download NeXTSTEP software (usually .tar.gz) and I put it on a cd using MagicISO (on emulated Windows Xp), when I run it in NeXTSTEP I get errors.

Has anyone got any idea on how to do this?

Thanks,

kvitske

I use a CD image created in Disk Utility.
Try these settings when creating the blank image:

Change the extension to "img" (from "dmg").

Sorry, I didn't know that (I'm running OPENSTEP 4.2). There is no "ISO 9660" option in "Volume Format:".

I guess you can always use FAT, but that'll screw up the filenames.

There is a "Single partition - CD/DVD with ISO data" option in the "Partitions:" drop-down list, but choosing it doesn't change anything in the "Volume Format:" drop-down list and I have no idea if it'll work.

There is some cross platform image thing... I think because you are burning a 'disk image' it may be confusing it, thinking it's like a hard disk...?  I'm forgetting here my mac is mothballed ATM..

try just doing the drag & drop on the cd image thing... I think that'll do an iso 9660 image..

if you .tar or zip the file, it will keep the file names intact.

Thanks for the replies. I discovered that if I unarchive it on my Mac and burn the .app, I can use that in NeXTSTEP.
