Has anyone had success connecting an HP LaserJet 5M directly to a NeXTStation? We had a male to male 9 pin serial cable laying around, so I thought I'd try connecting the HP 5M we have to my mono slab. Set all the configuration parameters (XON/XOFF, 19200 baud), but nothing happens when I try to print. It is a working printer, so the problem must be in communication. Do I need to make a custom cable? Are there other settings that could be wrong here?
Thanks!
Keith

Only with a network cable. Not an option for you?

It is an option. If I connect the two with a network cable, what will I need to do next to get the NeXT to recognize the printer? Anything I need to do on the printer end?
Thanks!

If you don't have a hub or switch you need a crossovercable. And you need to setup your next with a IP-adress like the 192.168.x.x inhouse range.
On the printer panel you have to setup in the HP MEA-menu an IP-adress from the same netrange
