Can you do this? VMWare keeps nagging me to do it, but when I do, I get this:

That tar.gz file keeps opening in Edit when I double-click on it.
Any suggestions?
TIA,
There are no VMWareTools for NeXTStep/OpenStep. And the tools for an other system will not work. VMware tries to present you the vmtools for FreeBSD if you have told it that FreeBSD is the guest system.
When the sources for vmtools were made available opensource by VMware I had a look at them to see if there is a chance in porting them to NeXTStep. The result for me was that some of the functionality would not be portable at all (memory resizing on the fly, disk resizing, ...) or would make too much effort to get them done (shared pasteboard, file drag+drop between host and guest,...). Due to that I stayed with the drivers for mouse and network (VMMouse and VMXNet) I already ported to NeXTSTep and which are necessary for a stable running of NeXTStep in VMware.
I even tried to make VMware believe that the tools are installed by some additions to VMMouse but after initially saying "tools are installed" it fell back to "tools not installed" after a while. I think it was missing some sort of heartbeat from the tools but I don't know.
So just ignore the message that the tools are not installed.
Thanks, Morgon.
I'm having also trouble installing VMMouse... I can bring the .tar.gz files into the OpenStep machine, no problems, but I cannot untar them...when I double-click on them, I always get the message 'The Shell is not found' or something, or they open as plain text files.
How do I open up a Terminal in OS? Is there any app that ships with OS that can untar / ungzip these files?
If I untar them on the Mac, they come in as read-only and can't be accessed.
TIA,
Tim
