First off, thanks to jeffberg and his walkthrough for installing OS on VMWare Fusion.

I downloaded and decompressed the video driver, installed it using configure.app -- but   keep getting the message 'These settings are claimed by more than one device. You must esolve the conflicts before saving'

Address 0xa0000 seems to be shared by the default VGA driver and the VMWare Display Adapter...but configure.app seems to say differently:

Default VGA: Port Adress 2 bytes at 0x3B4
                  Mapped Memory 128K 0xA0000

VMWare DA: Port Adress 12 bytes at 0x4560
                  Mapped Memory 16384K 0x7EFC0000

Anyone know what's going on?

TIA

Deinstall the "Default VGA" driver.

If the VMware DA driver fails to load NeXTStep will automatically revert to Default VGA. There are always problems when two drivers for teh same device are installed unless it is a multi instance device (like serial ports) and the driver supports multiple instances.

Thanks, again Morgon --

That's what I ended up doing... However, on the VMWare video, I can't get over 1024x768 -- even though higher resolutions are listed and accepted. Is it A VM machines setting thing? Video RAM perhaps?

TIA,

Tim

Hmm. don't know why higher resolutions are not working for you. There is no such setting as video RAM from VMware.

Since I'm using my own video driver I had no need to fiddle around with the VMWare DA for quite a while. Last time I tried it it didn't work that well for me at all and was messing up my screen but that was several years ago when I just started putting OS into a VMware VM and I never tried it again.

Sorry, but I can't help you with that one.
