Title: 2 NeXT slabs available nr Wash DC
Post by: OldNextDude on September 10, 2008, 08:55:49 PM
My wife and I have our old NeXTstations available to a good home.  Both have been in storage for about 10 years.  I'd like to be able to give them away and not have to deal with ebay if possible.  If you can pick them up, they're yours!  If I have to ship them, I'll need to ask for shipping costs.

We have 2 non-turbo, non-adb stations and a NeXT printer.  Both machines are working and the monitors are in good shape (I have pictures of them booted).  I have not unpacked the printer since putting it in storage.

One machine has 32MB and 3GB disk running NS3.3.  It has Diagram! (versions 1 and 2), OmniWeb, SoftPC, WordPerfect, and X11.  The other has 20MB with 500MB disk running NS3.1.  It has Adobe Illustrator 3.0.1, Improv, Presentation Builder, Concurrence, and WingZ.  I'll include all the CDs and magazines I have related to the machines.

Both machines are in good shape; the keyboards and mice work fine, but there are signs of wear.  One keyboard has a red 'Panic' button I stuck onto my keyboard (I was young!).

Pictures are available at <http://jmitch.homeip.net/gallery/etc/NeXT>

Were the red panic buttons handed out by NeXT or something? I picked up a keyboard in a lot from eBay that had one exactly the same.

Title: found a new home

I have bitter-sweet feelings in telling everyone that my machines found a new home.  They were just picked up.  I spent the afternoon cleaning up the accounts and setting passwords -- some final tlc.  At least I can play with AppleSTEP on the MacBook...

Anyway, thanks to everyone for the interest.

I was the lucky one. ;-)  I had a friend pick them up for me & hopefully he'll be able to bring them down next week.  It'll be nice to have another mono system going again.

I'm sure it was tough to see them go.  ;-)  Pete gave me a bad time about how much stuff there was.  Looks like it's going to cost me a few more beers. lol.   Seriously though, thanks for the systems.  They'll be taken care & used for quite sometime.  OPENSTEP does run well under OSX. ;-)  Take care & thanks again.
