I've not had the spare cash to buy a meter like I want to find out... Anyone else measured what their Cubes/slabs draw or know off hand what one uses, more or less?
If you have numbers, please list what model it is from (not just cube/slab, but turbo/non, etc)
If I ever get my hands on a kill-a-watt or such, I'll post my readings.
I think my Turbo Color Slab was pulling about 50-54watts so it was ok. Not great but not bad. I'd expect a Cube with graphic board would be more.

wow, that isn't bad at all. I plan on getting mine going with a CF card and an LCD soon, so that'll help cut down my overall power draw a lot.
AFAIK the '030 uses a lot less power than an '040. 50ish watts for a turbo slab sounds about right, going by my experiences with Macs. My 25MHz '040 Quadra 700 is in that range (a little more, I think).
By comparison my SS20 with 2x200mhz was 110watts, but my Pismo with G4 550 upgrade was still only 23watts. Seriouly if you can get a Kill-a-watt do! They are more fun then you can shake a stick at! :D

Dang... I just ran the numbers for our power here. I did it for a 52watt average. Comes out to the Turbo Color on a 30day month running 24/7 using a total of 37.44kWh @ 7.0099c (! cheap :)) costing a whopping $2.63/M. This is, of course, not counting a CRT or LCD. I can't wait to get a Kill-A-Watt, LCD, and the adapters I need to run a CF card :)
The NeXT definitely uses a lot less power than my dual Pentium-III 600 with 3 IDE hdds and 1 SCSI hdd plus, nvidia card etc...

As long as you don't have a laser printer or at least remember to turn it off. Haven't metered it but it dims my lights when the fuser heats up.
Hi Helf, interesting.
I just did a reading on my NeXT cube, has the internal MO and HD plus Mono monitor.
With my Kill-A-Watt it boots using 160w and once idling seems to bounce around 98-107 watts.
I have somehow messed up my hard drive as it boots into an error (for another thread soon)....
