If you had enough space, could you run multiple internal SCSI drives on a slab? Or is there some weird thing going on that won't let you? When I convert mine to CF (soooon.. hopefully), I'll have enough room to fit several adapters inside the case. Can I stick a cable with several plugs and ID the drives in ascending order for it to work right?
I don't see any reason why it would not work. I did it in a Mac II so I guess it is worth a try in a NeXT box.
here is a picture of someone who has done it already, so I would think you should be OK
lol, that is one abused NeXT. Two HDDs squeezed in *and* overclocked.
I currently have two compact flash drives in my turbo color Slab, along with an external CDROM drive and they work well together. I haven't mounted the drives yet so they're sitting next to the Slab in Frankenstein fashion. One quirk I found was that I had to play around with the SCSI ID's to get it to recognize both CF drives. They also seem to take a long time to initialize at boot time, not sure why that is.

Have you pulled up the monitor before booting and looked for anything interesting? I'm curious if the adapters respond to spin up commands oddly (e.g. too quickly).
