SoundBlaster didn't work until I disabled PnP

I have an ISA sound blaster card here..

Not sure why, the Apple docs (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=72406) specifically suggest that you should ENABLE plug-n-play on your ISA/EISA driver in Configure.app

The only way I could get my Sound Blaster card to be recognized and working was to disable plug-n-play:

FYI, if this helps anyone! Maybe I had to do this because my card is somehow configured for non-plug-n-play (?)
