Okay this may be an easy question...
When I run Preferences.app, and close it, the little clock which previously overlaid the Preferences icon is no longer visible.
Is this a known 'feature'??
Thanks

It is not a feature... the Preferences.app starts up when you log in and is running all the time (which is what the clock shows). When you are done using the Preferences.app, rather than quitting out of it, choose Hide from the menu options.

Do not close it, just hide instead, as I think the preferences app is the clock.
