Was it June 1997?

'hostinfo' shows Jan 1999 which I suppose is because I installed Patch 4..

I think it OPENSTEP Mach 4.2 upgrade was released sometime between late May and early June 1997...

Maybe that is right... I was stuck at 4.1 for a long time.

But I knew people who had 4.2 before WWDC97 (but they were working closely with Apple) which was in early May. Plus "Prelude to Rhapsody" was handed out to some developers at WWDC97 (and shipped to others in July), and that was 4.2.
