I thought it would be interesting to install OS 4.2 on a Compaq Armada 1750 laptop.
Odd thing I learned about this system - the floppy drive appears to be an IDE floppy...
I can get to the boot: prompt, after that the floppy light goes out, and I get the following error 4 times, and then it reboots...
Disk Error: Media Error
Block 0, Cyl 0 Head 0 Sector 0
Ideas?
All I can think of is connect the hard drive to my linux system, and install to the drive via QEMU. Just need a laptop HD adapter to hook it up...
I think you'd be screwed...
Now I can't gaurentee *anything* but I *think* if you were to pull your HD's geometry, and install Qemu with the same geometry you could dd the raw disks.....
No gaurentee though. :)
You could try one of the El Torrito "bootable cd" floppy replacements discussed in this thread.
