I'm passing on some sad news.  As of now, in 30 days, ftp.blackcube.org will drop offline.  The company I work for is being sold and I am not part of the package.  It seems I'm too "expensive".  So when I leave, my free hosting will terminate as well.  As since I'm going to be a 54 year old unemployed technician, it's very remote that I will be able to afford alternate hosting.

So if there is anything you want to download, grab it before I pull the plug on December 31st.

aaaah! I'm sorry :( I hope you can get a new job quickly.

How big is that FTP? Anyway I could send you a HDD and get it duplicated?

I'm probably going back to school to update my Winblows certs and finsh my Cisco cert.  During that time, I'll probably do some independent consulting.  I may have to work 2 jobs for a while.  It really sucks since my wife and I both work there and we are both getting cut.

Including the AIX archive and a lot of Mac xtuff that I haven't got organized and on line yet, maybe 300gb or better.

I might mail you a spare SCA drive as well to back it all up.

300Gb?
Wow, I have nothing close to that.
Wait, do you have access to a VS160 drive? I could send you DLT tapes.

I currently have wget mirroring the site, so we will see how that goes.

Blackcube, l currently have it pausing between files so as not to hammer the site, but let me know if it becomes a problem.  Trying to get my company to agree to host some other open source stuff, so might be able to mirror some of this as well.

Yea, saw that when I re-read the message.    My bad.

That is a little bit much to grab over the wire, so I stopped the mirror.  Is there anything on his site that is not found elsewhere, as this would be the stuff to grab first.

Looks like I tried to grab too much, as my IP is now apparently banned.  :(
Try back later to see if it is permanent or just temporary.

Oh Well..

Chef, what is your IP?  I haven't banned anyone who wasn't trying to log in as administrator.  Transfer amounts I could care less about.

There may be a reprieve in the works.  I have taken on a project that requires hosting a couple of server so I think I may be able to squeeze this one back on too.  I'm having a 20mbps/50mbps fiber link installed with no transfer limits.

I managed to grab 220GB off the site... I believe it's everything (wget -m on pub ran to completion). I will get a machine with 750GB or so of space online and when I do, I'll put the mirror up.

that's what is online, there is another 100+gb in another directory that I just haven't got around to linking.

If you can link in the other directory, I'll pull that across too.

It was a temporary thing, as I think konqueror was trying to make too many connections in the background while wget was running.  Started working about 10 min later so I grabbed some stuff.

Good to hear it may stay up, and the new project, as employment is a good thing right now.

It's January 2, 2009 and the server seems still operative. Has it been saved then? I hope so!  :)

Cheers,
Rick

Actually it is going down at midnight but I will be able to host it at another location.  I'm not sure how much bandwidth I can dedicate to the site as paying customers will have to come first.

I bought a 50/20 mbps fiber link but I don't have a feel yet about how it will hold up under load.

Did anyone get a mirror online? If only I had looked at the thread earlier... I would have grabbed the unique stuff and would be hosting it right now.

I have a significant chunk of the content (the stuff that was available to wget), but I haven't put it online yet. I'll see what I can do.

Is there anything new about an  access to a backup of blackcube's ftp site?

Actually, I've been toying with the idea for putting it back up.  I started my own consulting/hosting firm and I have a 50/20mbps fiber optic pipe to the 'net.  I'd have to throttle bandwidth usage during the day but could open it up at night.

On another note, I'm selling off my collection.  I sold my three Cubes last month.  My new hobby is machine shop and gunsmithing.  I've started the application process for my Class III FFL and my C&R license.  My current project is building a AK103 clone out of a Saiga 7.62x39mm sport rifle.

I have a 10'x30' warehouse crammed to the ceiling to dispose of in the next few months.

nice cube! :)

If you ever feel the need to make and sell a working Luger replica... let me know ;P

Do you have any dsp addons for the NeXT that you'd be selling?
