Well, let me Google that for you (http://letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=nextstep+openstep+compatibility+list). :D

Hmmm. I didn't even click on that link. I know that trick, and yes i did google it, and check the compatibility page before posting. First, to see if i can find it myself, and second, so that people don't have to put stupid links like that on my post.

Thanks for your concern, though.
If anybody is willing to help me out for real, i would appreciate it.

Thanks.

If you didn't want stupid links you would have said that you had checked and already knew that it wasn't listed as supported hardware.

But this isn't the first time you've asked an easy question... the VESA answer for your video card question was only a Google away too, but you asked that one. Many questions like these are answered not just on the net, but also in NeXTanswers. Have you downloaded NeXTanswers so you have access to them?

Actually what I'd love is a copy of nextanswers that isn't corrupt... the one I pulled from nextcomputers.org crc's at the end....

Or do they all do that?  I dl'd it 2x to make sure, but it's corrupt...  well at least the thing I needed on Oracle was in there, so I can do data model in NS, but heck... a full copy would be awesome.

This is a joke, right?

Surely I don't need to do another "let me Google that for you"... specially when (just as in the first post I did in this thread) one of my site's pages is near the top of the results.

Well, I was going to finish putting together an updated version of the NeXTanswers package with a bunch of additional articles, but seeing as no one uses this stuff even when made freely available, maybe I shouldn't waste my time.

chill out dude.

I was simply asking for the location of a NONCORRUPT version.

If it's that much to simply ASK then you know don't bother replying.

Hey, I'm fine... specially as I'm not the one needing anything.

QuoteI was simply asking for the location of a NONCORRUPT version.
And one has been available online for more than three years.

I just find it amazing that you've been a member here for as long as you have and you can't find this one thing. I mean I can sorta understand cjbriare not knowing where to go for stuff, he still new... but I was under the impression that you were well versed in this stuff.

Oh well, my mistake.

Best of luck on your search. ;)

Yeah I'm terribly sorry for inquiring if they were all ********ed up, I should have downloaded it at least 30x from your site as well to verify if it had ********ed up.

You never said you downloaded it from my site... you were talking about the one you "pulled from nextcomputers.org".

But again, I'm not the one in need of this stuff, and throwing a fit isn't going to make me expend an ounce of effort to help you.

So I would strongly suggest you take your own advice...

I just downloaded that archive off racers site and it tested fine. Have you tried using another computer/internet connection, neo?

This feels like a Linux forum sometimes, heh.

I'm not sure if this was what he was talking about, but some of the articles in the prepackaged version of NeXTanswers seem only readable in NEXTSTEP/OPENSTEP/Rhapsody in Edit/TextEdit. Part of what I started last year was to both make sure that the individual articles are readable on as many platforms as possible and to also put together a single PDF version that is searchable.

It is a lengthy undertaking, and I haven't put much time into it because I actually like accessing NeXTanswers on my OPENSTEP systems using the Digital Librarian (because it makes finding things quite easy).

I'll have a look at the file we have online here and replace it if necessary.  I too have been meaning to put some time into organizing the NeXTanswers.  I exchanged e-mails with Paul Lynch (http://www.paullynch.org/) about a year ago to see if he had any backups of the NeXTanswers archive that he used to mirror back in the day.  He did send me a 1999 backup that he found on tape, however, in many of the documents the original text was replaced with a message saying that the file had been transitioned over to the Apple site.  There may be some files in his backup that aren't in the 1997 archive, but I haven't had a close look yet.  Paul also took the files that he sent me and made them available on his site.

http://www.paullynch.org/NeXTSTEP/NeXTanswers/

My plan with the NeXTanswers files was to convert them to HTML and PDF format so that people without a running NEXTSTEP/OPENSTEP system would have easier access when they were troubleshooting a system.  I never got around to getting it done.  I would be happy to assist in any way that I can if anyone tackles the project.
