Hello, NeXT fans! I am very happy I have found this place.

As we all know, we love the NEXTSTEP/OPENSTEP interface. I think it is the most usable/ergonomic GUI interface ever. I was wondering -- when you use your UNIX boxes, what window manager or desktop environment do you use? I am using WindowMaker but of course... it may be gray, have a dock and minimize windows to squares but I feel that something is missing.

I also used KDE and GNOME but the taskbar is killing me. Horrible interface done by amateurs.

I also happen to like CDE on real UNICES, but CDE is unavailable on Linux/BSD. CDE minimizes windows to icons that are placed in a grid by default and I can move them whereever I want and they will stay there so I am happy enough. The random sorting, non-determistic taskbar is pure evil done by twisted minds.

I use a Mac and the interface is of course not as good as NS/OS, but it's good enough for me. Solaris is my favourite UNIX, but for some reasons I am forced to use Linux and want to make my experience the most productive possible in this environment.

Have a great day!

Aram

If possible, latest E17, else Fluxbox. I know, I know, I like it simple when I cant have it absolutely eye candy filled.
