In a few weeks I will be moving my business home. I am considering using my black hardware to run things but it will need to meet two needs:
1) I will need to print to my LaserWriter IIg. I don't forsee this being a problem, but I could probably use a few pointers.
2) is there something similar to Filemaker for OpenStep?
Please help!?!
I honestly have never tried using an apple printer with a NeXT system but there runs the chance that the driver for the printer is already installed and just needs to be selected.
As for the software, I can't help you much.

It looks like that jetpilot doesn't support the printer:

Well the Laserwriter is a Postscript printer so with its PPD (Postscript printer definition) file , you should be able to print, using a serial cable.

Thanks everybody!
Any hints on database software?
Also, can I just use a regular apple rs422 to rs422 printer cable, or do I need to build a cable myself?

If i'm not wrong you should have a DB25 connector on your laserwriter.
You should use it with a null modem cable like this one, that i'm afraid you'll have to make:
