i want to quickly sort a couple of next drives out and perhaps format them with my OSX machine running 10.4 and a pci adaptec 2930 card. is there a way to mount it. be it in the terminal?

aparently UFS is not allway's the same UFS...

MacFUSE 2.0 has support for "ancient" Unix file systems, including nextstep, nextstep-cd and openstep.  See http://www.osxbook.com/blog/2008/12/16/more-user-space-file-system-goodies/ for more information.

No idea if OS X will correctly recognize NeXT/OpenStep partition information.

Interestingly, if you use dump, you can restore under OS X. I did that with some old 2.1 volumes. I haven't tried to mount an older disk, but it should be possible.
