Aargh. This one here just won't stop spinning and won't even accept a cartridge. At the very least I'm looking for one that will accept the MO cartridges without killing the disks. At the very best I'm looking for one of those NOS drives that look brand new but are probably dead anyways.
In other words, if you have an MO drive that does not appear to be brain dead or stuck in a vegetative state where it can barely function, I'm interested in it.
I've got 3 non working MO drives that may or may not interest you. There are entirely too many moving parts and screws to deal with troubleshooting and repairing myself so I'm giving up on this magneto optical madness. I'd rather be working on an internal CD-ROM drive anyway.
1) spins up on boot with no MO inserted then spins intermittently, emits a foul fishy smell when in my dimension cube, and does not read MO's.
2) also spins up on boot, but sends my dimension cube into panic upon inserting an MO. Fun stuff.
3) just tested on my spare mono 040 cube to not function. It spits the MO's right back out. Even in the monitor...
I'm sure they can all be combined to form a working MO or at least the head of Voltron. I just don't have the time to ******** with them. Let me know if you're interested.

Yeah, I'm interested. Hopefully with the addition of mine I can make one single working unit out of four. PM me and we can get the ball rolling.
Not for nothing, but I've generally paid around $50 for non working MO drives.
