I posted these a while back hoping to sell locally in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Trying to avoid shipping them unless someone can suggest the a low effort way to do this.
- Will UPS double wall boxes work?
- DHL ?
- Are folks willing to pay shipping? These aren't light.
- Will any of the shippers box them for a price?
- There's a private mailing shop in my neighborhood I'd entertain
paying them to box and ship for me but it will add cost.
I'd much prefer to sell it all to one person but might be willing to part it out depending on interest.
I'd fired up the Cubes several years ago and remember having them working. Somewhere along the line I misplaced a monitor cable or two. I certainly no longer have password to log in regardless. I got ride of my 3 NeXT monitors several years ago.
Would *much* prefer local pickup in Northern California if possible. The Cubes are certainly not light by any stretch of the imagination.
I might be willing to ship but it won't be inexpensive to do so and I would need to find a good way to package the components and buyer would assume all risk of damage in shipment. If buyer is interested in insuring components, will insure if they pay.
This weekend I took a look around and here's the list I came up with. I've also a bunch of photos of the individual gear. I've also taken photos of the motherboards and NeXTDimension board for anyone interested.
- 2 NeXT Cubes (68040), one of the Cubes has a NeXTDimension board
- RAM looks fully populated on both motherboards and the
NeXTDimension board
- 1 NeXT 68030 motherboard with a few sticks (4?) of RAM
- 1 monitor cable
- 1 NeXT cd-rom drive + cable
- 2 NeXT keyboards
- 2 NeXT mice
- 1 NeXT sound box
- NextStep CD. Release 3.3 for Intel and NeXT Computers. 1988-1994.
Also has 2 floppy disks.
"Nextstep 3.3 Installation disk for Intel" and
"Nextstep Device Driver disk"
- NextStep 3.3 CD box but no CD in there. Has 1 floppy:
"Installation Disk for NeXT Computers"
- NextStep Developer 3.3 for Intel Processors, Sparc and PA-RISC and NeXT computers. CD.
- Nextstep 'Third Party Products". CD.
Drop me a line if this sounds like gear someone is interested in.
Please let me know what you would offer for the lot or parted out bits.
If I was going to ship, I would really prefer to ship within the continental US.
I believe the weight of a NeXTCube is around:
Weight 20 lbs. to 37 lbs. (13 kg to 17 kg)
Please consider looking up shipping prices on the US Postal Service or UPS website to see whether you are serious about having it shipped.
you have a PM, please reply
Was cleaning the spare room today. Found the NeXT laser printer I thought I had gotten rid of a couple years ago.
Would like to sell it locally with the lot of other gear.
