Fon't really know what I did but I was moving disks around a disk array and the drive letters were not changing so the system was feeding garbage to the swapped drives and hosing down all the data.
Of course, this happened a week before my new tape drive arrived so I spent several days trying to recover what I could.
then there is the terminal app I coded on my Vic 20...only to bump the power cable and reset the system.
a few years ago I was trying to backup my horde of Palm OS war^H^H^H software and ebooks - about 30gb all total- to a new 60gb ide drive from my old 40gb drive... half way in to the copying, BOTH HDDs became unresponsive and I started getting the click of death. Worst. Day. Ever. :P I have no idea what happened... I almost cried. I have over 40k ebooks... *sigh*
Huge project for university due the next morning and i was doing the finishing steps the night before. I didn't realize that i had an open emacs editor to the code in the background open with an early version of the code. Because it was so late and i was so tired when i was done would automatically punch in the codes for save and close. When I saw the window with the older code i instinctively hit save and close thus writing over all the work. I did eventually recover on time but i had to pull an all nighter.
