Hi, stuck my bebox on ebay the other day. Forgot to post about it on here. I have set a reserve (I know, I know), but it isn't super super high. The BIN is definitely high, but I always set the initial bid amount for what I'd find acceptable for an item and ten set a retardedly high BIN just in case someone wants it THAT badly. If it doesn't hit its reserve, I'll just hold onto it for a bit longer and continue beefing it up.

normally, I'd buy this within the first two days of it's listing, but i too am running low on cash right now. Oh well, my loss is someone else's gain
"Reserve not met"
Thats a joke for a beginning bid of $650.
What are you talking about? I said why I put the reserve in. Keeps the BIN up longer.

I don't understand what the difference is to a beginning bid from $1. Why not set minimum bid to the reserve amount?
Because I don't treat the minimum like a minimum. I set my opening bid at what I'd be happy to get for it ($650 in this case), then I put up a large BIN just in case someone wants it *that* badly. But the BIN goes away the moment there is a bid. So i just stuck a reserve up for a bit over the initial bid amount to let the BIN stick around a little longer. I even specified this in the auction.
I've had this work numerous times :)

But the one who have bidden would maybe also pay your reserve. But no other people bid, he stay on his minimum.

I think the point is that he will sell at the current bid if the BIN is not used, even if the reserve is not met.
yeah, that. Thanks for putting that so succinctly.

Ah, clever, and eBay have an unsuccesful auction without to pay the selling provision. In germany there isn't such a thing like "reserve", so i don't know much about ist.

Personally I hate auctions with a reserve. It's a waste of my time and the sellers if as happened here there was only the 1 bid and the reserve was not met.
So guess the bidder fell into that .1%.... since they met your $650 target but not the reserve.

No, he didn't. I killed the auction for varies reasons that I'm not going into.
If you don't like reserves, then don't bid.
