Hello all,

I bought a very cool TurboColor NextStation (my first one) and got it up and running and on the net.

Since it only had 32mb of RAM (70ns), I thought I would upgrade the RAM.

I installed (4) new 32mb 60ns FPM 72pin SIMMs (spec'd for a PowerMac 6100), for a total of 128mb of physical RAM. <I understood this is the limit for this machine>

HOWEVER, when I boot in verbose mode, the RAM registers as 32mb of total physical ram. A boot monitor -m command show that there are 8mb 60ns simms installed in each of the 4 slots, when I know I bought 32mb simms.

I am running NS 3.3 with the Y2K patch. I should mention that I only have 40mb of free disk space. Is it possible that NS is limiting the recognition of the additional RAM because I don't have enough free disk space to extend the size of the swap/page file?

Any ideas on why I can't get the additional RAM to register?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. next things to sort out is upgrading the HD to a 4.3gb Barracuda and then figure out "sendmail" . But those will be different threads.

Because you are getting signs of less ram in the boot ROM monitor, I recommend you try moving your sticks around. Try pulling the new ram and moving the original sticks onto the empty slots or pulling all the ram and trying each stick in a known working slot.
