Title: No network interface in OpenStep 4.2 in VMware Fusion
Post by: Simple Xu on October 28, 2009, 01:37:58 AM
Hi all, I installed OpenStep4.2 in VMware Fusion 2.0 and all the drivers(VMMouse-1.1, VMXNet-1.1, VMWareFB, SoundBlaster)
I also configured the network setting (HostManager.app, NetInfoManager.app, resolv.conf, etc) as some .pdf said. But I still could't get the network. So I decide to use the SimpleNetworkStarter.app, when I open SimpleNetworkStart.app, it told me "This computer has no network interface. No network configuration is possible"
I'm confused, I've installed the network driver, right? VMXNet-1.1.
I also added the VMWare virtual network adapter(v1.1) in Configure.app
Why the system can't find the network interface.
P.S. I use NAT in VMware Fusion and my MacBook access the internet via wireless network.

Welcome to the forums!

This is a known issue, but was resolved lately.
This should help:

I did not test with OPENSTEP, but it should work there as well! Please tell us, if you have succeeded!

Finally! It worked!
I couldn't thank you enough!
This problem has bothered me for a looooong time!
Now I finally got the network.
Thank you again and thank you a lot!

P.S. I don't why I didn't find your topic posted in Wed Oct 28, 2009. It would be much easier if I found that topic earlier.

I'm glad i could help!

I have had this problem for a long time myself until finding the solution.

P.S. You posted your thread before i posted mine, so you couldn't find it. It's just a few hours old. The posting date/time seems to get a little bit messed up in these forums with posters from different time zones.
