Can anyone please email, or point me to a download, for Fiend for Openstep 4.2.

I have found and am using Fiend on my Nextstep 33 cube, but cant find it for my openstep VB installs.

Can anyone hook a brotha up please?

Thanks,
Jeff

There's a version available in the archives here that may work for your needs.

I know of this file, But, I figured this one was compiled for Nextstep, not Openstep 4.2??

Am I wrong?

I am looking for an Openstep compiled version that many here have running.

Thanks,
Jeff

The version at the link is named "Fiend.1.4.1.NIHS.b.tar.gz". The 'NIHS' part indicates it has been compiled for multiple architectures (aka 'Quad-Fat') so it will basically run on any Openstep install you have.

it's confusing I suppose since the binary is located in the 'NEXTSTEP' subfolder.

N = m68k (motorola 68000 series)
I = i386 (intel)
H = hppa (hp pa-risc)
S = sun sparc

Yeah, the thing to remember is that OPENSTEP was designed to run just about anything (and everything) that could be run in NEXTSTEP 3.x. But changes in OPENSTEP mean that things designed for OPENSTEP require OPENSTEP.

Most of the software I run in OPENSTEP was originally made in the NEXTSTEP 3.x period (including extras bundled with versions of NEXTSTEP 3.x). There are only a few applications I use that require OPENSTEP (OmniWeb 3.x, Create 5.x, TIFFany 3.x, PixelNhance and Chronographer come to mind).

I think people read WAY too much into the name change.  :shock:

Ok, understood.

I understand "NIHS" and FAT compiles. Thing is, in some compiles, there IS a difference.

Thank You all for the info.

Jeff
