What makes this lot so special that it's gotten to such a high price?

I paid about 175 bucks for this lot about 6 years ago

Yeah, I agree... I noticed this auction the other day when I caught one of his other auctions for a BeOS title, "Civilization: Call to Power".  The funny thing is that this was a pretty common title about two years ago on eBay.  The seller has the Buy Now price set at $499.99.  I think the high price of the NS / OS package was a little crazy from both seller and buyer vantage points...

499 bucks for a game to play on BeOS.  I think the seller must be on PCP or something, why would anybody spend 499 bucks on a game that basically at the end of the day is running on a PC?, just put Windows on the PC and dual boot it and save 498 bucks.  I only paid a bit more than that for a mint 133 BeBox with box, books & every version of BeOS plus a few other bits and pieces.

I actually don't blame the seller, if they can get away with that, good luck if people are dumb enough to pay that amount then they have more money than sense.

This is true, eBay is definately a sellers market.  If people are willing to pay it, why not sell it for that much.  The joys of demand market capitalism...

But, speaking of BeBoxen... is it me or has there been an amazingly few on eBay recently?  I've been drooling over these for years and would love to aquire one.  But until that time I will be content just checking them out... and spending time at the BeBox Zone http://www.bebox.nu/.

If prices stay like this I may have to sell some NeXT stuff.

Still, that's a lot of money for what looks like an '040 cube. I have a couple of '04 Dimension boxes that aren't much worse than that, and I paid far less....

Heh...

Yes, the price was way too high for the software package, but I doubt anybody is going to end up paying for it. The high bidder has zero feedback and still hasn't received any from the seller. And in all likelihood, any of the runner ups who get sent second chance offers will have come down from their mid-auction highs and realize there's no way and hell that package is worth that much.

*I predict a relisting in this seller's future. A dissapointing one*
