So, what model NeXT systems came with Floppy Drives?  NeXTcube by chance or only very early models?

I am confused what came with Floppy Drives.  Did they make an external NeXT Floppy Drive?

I have a Cube coming my way, an upgraded to 68040 25MHz model, and it has no floppy.  My guess they do not need one but curious.

The '030 cubes were the only ones that didn't support a floppy.  All stations came with them, and they were an option on '040 cubes.  I don't know whether all '040s came with floppy-capable bezels or not.

NeXT didn't make an external Floppy.

I think all 030 boxes came with the dual MO bezel and all later 040 boxes came with the floppy/MO bezel. Generally I notice that there were a lot of people who upgraded their older 030 cubes than just replaced them with newer 040 cubes because the upgrade path NeXT had was a lot cheaper.

I think that is what I have.  And updated 68030 to an 68040.  How would I tell if mine was a 68030 before?  Serial #?  Or the fact mine has the 2 MO slots.

Is an upgraded from 68030 to am 68040 the same thing as one would have seen buying a 68040 machine?  Are they considered the same thing or did 68040 machines has some thing new inside one would not have got with the update?
