Some of the patents identified are just absurd, wherein even certain software patterns were patented. Granted that the patterns may not have "formally" existed at that time, they are just simply good software engineering best practices that other products may have even used back then (even before Apple patented them) and even now.
I guess the lack of good software engineering background in the patent office at that time has resulted in tons of these kinds of patents.
