Just received my NeXTcube. Has stock optical drive. Purchased a ClickArt MO Disk on eBay and just tried it. Sounded like my Cube was taking off like a rocket ship. Spins the drive and all that... Just never mounts the optical disk.
So, what is the problem with these things... too much dust on some lense?
I purchased an old Apple SCSI CD for my Color Classic and it arrived DOA. I took it apart, cleaned the lense, then she works great.
Is that what these things need or is it more complicated than that and these things just plan do what they did to me, sound like they are taking off, but nothing happens.
My wife yells from the other room, "what the hell is that you are doing in there". hehehe. Made me remember those days of youth when a mom yells to you in the bathroom "what you doing in there". hehehe
Anyway, would be cool to use this thing but if it a working one sounds like it is taking off and decibles off the roof, I will pass and take this thing out for good.
