Acquired a used supposed to be working NeXTstation Color today. Cane with a ADB keyboard, adb mouse, and adb soundbox.
It starts but I am getting no mouse at all at login screen and no keyboard other than the Power button. The 21" display I have with it has the Y, or should I call it a V cable. The end that has both cables connected to it I have plugging into the back of the NeXTstation Color. The soundbox side to soundbox and the other end to the display. I get video but other than Power button. no keyboard or mouse at all. So, to turn it off I have to yank the power cord.
Do I have the V cable wrong and instead of the bottom of the V where both soundbox and monitor cable go to I supposed to connect the bottom of the V to the display and the other end to the NeXTstation Color? Seems odd if that is the case and I don't want to chance screwing it (the monitor) up so I am asking 1st.
If I have it connected right, what is the normal culprit here> Bad soundbox, bad keyboard, or bad mouse.
Again, keyboard turns on the NeXT and that is all. No keys let me type at login screen. No mouse at all. Can't plug mouse direct into soundbox as then I can't turn on the NeXtstation. So, not sure if this is a soundbox, keyboard, or mouse issue. <grin>.
I do have a Mac ADB keyboard at my disposal. It is an older one with power key on keyboard. Would that work to see at least if this is a keyboard issue?

EDIT.... I connected my Mac ADB keyboard and mouse to the soundbox using the known good Apple ADB cable to the soundbox and known good mouse and keyboard from my old Mac, and same issue. So, can soundbox be good enough to allow the system to turn on but not good enough to allow any other keys or mouse to function? Or, do I have the darned cable wrong? Just seems odd if the end of the cable with both cables would go to the monitor instead and I am not willing to chance that until I hear from you all. hehehe
The cable is a candidate cause. There is a non-ADB cable and an ADB cable. I think the ADB Y-cable part number is 4356.00 and the non-ADB Y-cable is 2286.01

Disregard. I figured it out. I received two NeXTstations and one was ADB and the other is non ADB. The non ADB color model looks to be missing the soundbox so that is my issue. 8-)
