Title: Replace Fuse on NeXT Laser Printer. Printer Repair Video.
Post by: NeXTsociety on March 31, 2010, 12:05:44 PM
Can someone explain to me how to replace the Fuse in a NeXT Laser Printer?  I am unsure how and what panels to remove from the printer to gain access to that fuse.  I just don't want to start removing any old screws in case one goes to something that should not be touched or it really screws things up.

So, advise on what panel to remove and what screws are to be removed to gain access to that fuse.

I found this great site about NeXT and it appears they have a 13 minute repair video for the Printer for the quicktime link does not work for me.  Anyone have this video?  I am sure the snippent they put on the site is just a small portion of that vhs tape but would be awesome if we as a NeXT community can get a full copy of that tape since NeXT is long gone.  I sure know I could use it to try and tinker with my printer.

Here is that link.

I emailed the site but received no replies about my request.

*EDIT* - I now figured out how to remove the top cover so the metal printer housing can lean back the full 90 degrees and also how to remove the lower printer casing.  Now.... just need to find the fuse.  Will report back.  Must be hidden inside power unit?

**EDIT** - Found fuse.  Yes, fan has to be removed to see it.  It was bad.  Now need to find a new one and see if that fixes my issue or not.  The PC board it is on shows 250v 8A and the fuse itself shows 8A 32V 313.  Not sure which one to follow but I guess I need an 8AMP Fuse that can handle up to 250V per what the PC board shows.  Will keep you all posted if this works.

***EDIT*** - So, blown fuse replaced and life is back in the printer. Yeah!.  But.... now the common paper feed issues.  So, back to drawing board and do the whole roller fixes.  Maybe get a new toner in there as I have an unknown toner.  But, at least she shows signs of life now.  So, if yours acts dead dead dead, replace the 8A 250V fuse found on the plug side of the lower case.  You need to remove the plastic case to get to it.  Yank the cooling fan and you will see the fuse.  8-)
