$300 without extra set of Apple ROMs or $325 with extra set of Apple ROMs.

Link to a video I made showing it running on my triple monitor NeXTcube.

Here is a picture of what you get.  The Daydream box with roms already installed and ready to use, a 2nd set of Mac roms as backup, a copier printer made copy of the user manual, and 2 floppies that has the Daydream software.

I used to have two of these puppies, and had a BALL with them.  The engineering (by Quix) was first rate, and when running in Mac mode, the computer did not know it was really a NeXT box.

Wish I could spring loose the bucks to buy this one- it's a real classic. Hope you do find a buyer. It's a shame to have this sitting in a drawer somewhere.

It is really a shame that the Daydream software still needs that dongle to run. You should give it to the most competent coder/hacker out there on the condition that he figures out how to make the Daydream software run without it.

A number of very competent and clever people have tried to accomplish the "hack", but without much success. I tend to think that if the original Quix engineers, with their considerable resources could not do it, it's unlikely that technology has advanced to the point that it would promote a successful "hack" of the ROMbox.
As I recall, after they got the original licensing agreement from Apple, Quix quickly pulled back from engaging in any further development work because Apple tightened the screws (as they are wont to do) and the existing ROMs would not support any Mac OS after 7.5.5.  Still, for what it is, its an amazing piece of kit.    Wish I had mine back.  My Turbo ND Cube loved it....

The box is nothing but a device for reading the ROMs. The Daydream software probably reads them once, saves them somewhere, and checks for the presence of the box every time it is run.

Special Price for this weekend (6/18/10 to 6/20/10) only at $289 and includes postage to USA lower 48.  So, if you have been wanting one of the ultra cool devices for your NeXT, let me know ASAP as once this weekend is over, the deal for me to get something else is off the table so I will have to do the same on this deal.  Need to sell this to get my other toy <grin>.

The special $289 price does not include the 2nd extra set of Apple ROMs so if you want those, we can work out a deal on that also.

I paid $300 + shipping for mine so selling for lest than I paid for it to find a new home for it.

What did you sell yours for 2 years ago?  Things go up in price when they get older in NeXT, did you not know that.

And... for all we know, the one I have was yours.  hehehehe.  Who knows how many hands along the way these rarer NeXT things get in to.

And a reminder, I am open to trades.  I am really into Atari right now so if you have any Atari goods, 8 bit or 16/32 bit or gaming systems, might be interested in those.  I also collect NeXT so if you have an NeXT Mono Monitor with ADB port I have been looking for that.  I also have Amiga and BeBox so game on some trades although preference is for sale.

Let me know.

And what did you sell it for?  Or do you still have it.

I was quoted $600 when I first started looking for mine.  I then stumbled across mine for $300 + postage and snagged it.  I don't really need to sell it but as long as I get close to what I paid, I will part with it.  Otherwise, my Cube will keep using it.   8)

It is a cool piece of somewhat rareness.  At least I don't see them come up for sale often.

Since I have sold my NeXTstations that I used this Daydream on, I no longer really need my Daydream Box so back on eBay it goes.  Starting bid $295 + $15 postage in USA lower 48 with a Buy It Now at $399 + $15 postage in USA lower 48.  Those outside of this area email me for price quote.

As before, if I have no bids on eBay, I can sell to you direct.  Same as before, $300 + postage or $325 + postage if you want the extra set of ROMs.
