bfd to install NeXTStep 3.3 with diskettee and disk goes to just waiting and is stuck there, waiting for drive to become ready, which drive cd-rom or hard drive?...bfd goes to waiting for disk one in drive one, what disk and again what drive, ? What seems to be the problem? and what can be done. I know the rom settings might be off.....
IseRock,
I would recommend checking all of your SCSI ID settings. The internal HD should be set to 1. The CD Rom can be 2 or anything higher. If they have the same ID, the install CD will not boot.
Also the last device on each end of the SCSI chain needs to be properly terminated. Usually the internal HD has termination resistors installed. The CD-ROM needs a termination cap. If your SCSI chain is not properly terminated, signals will get reflected back through the chain, causing data collisions, and it won't function as designed.
If that doesn't fix your problem, you may have a bad SCSI Device. In that case, I would recommend removing the HD and CD ROM and connecting them to another computer to test them.
But to answer your original question, if you Boot an install Floppy with the bfd Command and no modifiers, it will Boot the CD ROM if it has an install CD in it. Your System is waiting for the CD ROM, not the HD.
