So I downloaded some Fonts, uncompressed the TAR files and copied the Font files into ~/NextLibrary/Fonts
But they do not show up in the Font Panel - not even after after a full reboot.
I checked the Font Panel from within different Apps but nothing shows up.
What's wrong? :?
Not quite sure, since it has been a few years since I did that.
But you could check this resource:
http://nwalsh.com/comp.fonts/FAQ/cf_80.htmGood luck!

Thanks for the link!
OK, ~/NextLibrary/Fonts was probably not the best folder to install new fonts so I moved them to ~/LocalLibrary/Fonts
But the fonts are still not automatically mapped.
So I searched NeXTanswers and found the folowing articles
- 1163 Installing Fonts
- 1193 Debugging Fonts
The latter article mentioned the command "buildafmdir"
So I run the command buildafmdir /LocalLibrary/Fonts manually in a shell and then the new Fonts are showing up in the Font Panel
But just copying fonts into a font folder does not work like it should :?
Any ideas what might be wrong?
Why are you using ~/NextLibrary/Fonts or ~/LocalLibrary/Fonts? :?
Fonts are intended to go into ~/Library/Fonts (unless you have multiple users on your system, then /LocalLibrary/Fonts would be an okay place). Any place else in your home directory and you are asking the system to do something it wasn't designed to do.
